NSS

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a community service programme with the objective of building social consciousness in students. NSS provides an opportunity to students in the capacityof volunteers to venture out of their comfort zones and make a difference to society. Inspired by this philosophy, the curriculum of the NSS chapter of Lady Shri Ram College, which was set up in 1968, comprises of a gamut of events and activities undertaken by volunteers who have channelized their creativity and spirit of volunteerism to bring about meaningful change. 

N.S.S is active in our college since the establishment of the college i.e. since 1984. Our’s  is Kanya Mahavidyalay and unit of hundred volunteers is sanctioned for our college. Many social oriented programs are counducted though N.S.S. It also creates social awareness among students. The unit functions under the guidance of Hon. Prin.Dr. Shahjahan M. Maner.

MOTTO The motto or watchword of the National Service Scheme is : ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’. This reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and appreciation of the other person’s point of view and also to show consideration for fellow human beings. It underlines that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of society on the whole. Therefore, it should be the aim of the NSS to demonstrate this motto in its day-to-day programme.

Vision
The vision is to build the youth with the mind
and spirit to serve the society and work for the social uplift of the
down-trodden masses of our nation as a movement.

Mission
The National Service Scheme has been functioning
with the motto “NOT ME BUT YOU” in view of making the youth inspired in service
of the people and hence NSS Aims Education through Community Service and
Community Service through Education.
